Ok, let me clarify

After my last post regarding Transitioning, I had several of you come in to the store or email stating your confusion. Some of you felt like you needed to get rid of red and gold altogether. Some said they thought they understood that red was out. NOT AT ALL!

My objective is to teach you how to make your red, gold, purple(whatever the case may be) work in creating a lighter, cleaner palette. Like I said before, no need to throw everything out. We just need to rework it and give it a fresh look.

So glad to hear that some of you picked up the magazines I recommended. That's a great place to start. Thumb through them and see what peaks your interest. See what color makes you smile. Which one makes you sigh because it says comfy? Which one turns your stomach(it happens) and which one makes you antsy(you dont want that)? Color can make us feel many emotions so it's important to pay attention to how a color makes you feel. Trust your instinct. Go with what feels right and makes you happy.

Along that line, stay true to yourself when decorating. If you like brights, stay with brights. Brights can work with a lighter palette too. Veranda February 2012 has many good examples of how brights can be used in a light, fresh, even contempory design scheme. Don't be afraid of color. But also, dont be afraid of what it cost to ask for help. Hiring a designer can save you thousands of dollars in costly mistakes.

Hope that clears up some things for you. Let me know your thoughts. Leave your comments on the Blog and be entered into a drawing for a FREE Tocca Candle. $60 value! Winner will be chosen on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Warmly,

Kim
